Man found with generator inside home dies from carbon monoxide poisoning

GOLDEN GATE, Fla. --

Authorities say a 19-year-old man died from carbon monoxide poisoning after moving a generator inside his southwest Florida home.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office says Rodney Marshall was found dead Sunday afternoon by a friend who was concerned that Marshall didn't show up to play basketball.

Marshall's roommate, 18-year-old Jeffrey Bazile, was found semiconscious.

The two had just moved to the house in Golden Gate, which is near Naples. Officials say they were using a generator for power until the electricity could be turned on. The generator was outside at first, but it was moved indoors so the noise wouldn't disturb neighbors.

No further information has been released.
