LEMPSTER, N.H. (AP) _ New Hampshire authorities say a high level of carbon monoxide was found in the Lempster home where two men died, but the toxic gas has not yet been identified as the cause of the deaths.
Initial readings Monday night were not high, but state police said Wednesday that additional monitoring led officials to evacuate the home and delay their investigation for a time while they cleared out the air.
A statement from Trooper Stephen Lee said carbon monoxide poisoning has not been ruled out as a contributing factor to the deaths.
Autopsies are scheduled for Thursday on the bodies, which family members and neighbors believe are those of the home's residents, Robert Pardy and his 16-year-old son Cody.
Toby Colby said he worked at a nearby farm with Robert Pardy, whom he described as big-hearted and very close to his son.
Colby said father and son were inseparable.
