CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Four cement workers at a Trader Joe’s under construction in north Charlotte were taken to the hospital to be treated for carbon monoxide poisoning Friday night.
Emergency officials say 10 workers were checked out, and four of them were transported with non-life threatening injuries.
The workers were laying concrete at the site, which is at the corner of West Mallard Creek Church Road and Senator Royall Place. Dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide were coming from the concrete smoother, officials say.
Labor officials have been called out, as is common in construction site injuries.
